Panic Buttons/Alarm Systems

UF Facilities may be protected by security intrusion detection systems (IDS), also known as a security alarm system.  This can be accomplished with a dedicated stand-alone alarm system or through the Lenel Acces Control System.  An alarm system can also provide a capability for an emergency panic or duress button.

The installation of alarm systems and panic buttons requires thoughtful implementation and must be tested routinely with UF Police to make sure they function properly.

Per construction standards, lobby welcome desks are eligible to have a wired duress button installed.  In lieu of a physical duress button, the UF Campus in Gainesville is encouraging occupants to download the GatorSafe App for use as the app provides a feature that will operate as a duress button that provides location and also can communicate with UFPD dispatch personnel when assistance is needed.
